Canoeing and Kayaking on : Pocklington Canal

The Pocklington Canal is a beautiful rural canal in Yorkshire which is being steadily restored, and linked the River Derwent with the small town of Pocklington. The western half now makes an excellent place to go canoeing.

Paddle Point

Canal is completely blocked after the first lock.

Can park two/three cars. Track just before/after the bridge. Easy launch from under the bridge.

Head down 'Canal Lane', a tiny track just after the last house in the village heading East. The track ends at the canal. There is sufficient parking for probably 2 cars.

Launch is from a stone edged narrows. Canal is beautiful, full of water lilies

Very low swing bridge which can be navigated by very low craft. Easy portage or "handcuff key" for the chains locking the bridges.
