Canoeing and Kayaking on : Emsworth Harbour

Paddle Point
Emsworth, Hampshire, UK

This Slipway which is part stony and concrete depending on the stage of the tide lets you get in 3 hours
either side of low or high water.
Low tide is OK too if you don`t mind a short muddy walk to the channel.

It is fairly sheltered as it is between Thorney Island and Hayling Island.

Just under 1 mile out there is a little island ( Fowley Island ) that is great for having a brew and rest before heading out for more paddling fun.

A site I use for wind strength/direction that is regularly updated based on Thorney Island .

There is a car-park behind a Pub which charges for week days and Saturday but is only 50p all day on Sunday (well it was when I was there in Oct 2012)just up the road that leads down to the slipway.

There are Toilets in the car-park.

Or if you don`t mind a 5 mins portage
you can use the FREE 7 days a week car-park in Bridge Road.

There are a few nice little cafe in the "Village" just up the road from the Put in.

The seal watching part of this article was written about a paddle starting here. http://www.canoe-england.org.uk/media/pdf/Southern%20Canoeing.pdf

This is a stony slipway and gives a put in at all stages of tide.

At low tide follow the wall down and you will get straight into the channel.
A bit muddy but firm enough to not get stuck.

During the week and Saturday you have limited parking in King Street but on Sunday it has no limitations.
