Canoeing and Kayaking on : Portland Harbour

Paddle Point
Weymouth, Dorset, UK

IF you are looking for a decent small beach and a decent place to launch from, here is by one of the best places I have found.

There is enough car parking spaces for approx 10 cars, but the adjoining road is also free to park.

Just up from the beach is a public Gardens of which the Cafe do a lovely bacon roll & a nice coffee!

only slight issue is on a spring tide the beach will disappear!

Portland harbour is one of my favourite spots for a paddle.

Its worth noting that you are supposed to have a pass to use any craft in Portland Harbour. They are obtainable from the visitors centre on Chesil Beach. Not sure how much they cost or if anyone actually checks on the harbour water!

Great place to paddle - fun on a warm day, and fairly safe in the shallow waters. At high tide you can explore the fleet and the harbour. Park in the Ferrymans Inn car park - only £3 - and a great pub too. Just drop in over the bank.
