Canoeing and Kayaking on : Derwent Water

One of the most beautiful of the Lake District's lakes, Derwent Water is perfect for canoeing, with plenty of launch points, fantastic views and islands to explore.

There is camping on the shore at Keswick, where you can launch your canoe, and the town is a haven of outdoor shops if you need to buy yet more gear.

As with all large bodies of water, in strong winds the lake can be a dangerous place with large waves.
