Canoeing and Kayaking on : Wastwater

England's deepest lake, Wastwater is a simply amazing place to go canoeing, though on a wet and gloomy day it is a thoroughly intimidating place and caution is required. When the sun is out though, and the wind is mild, Wastwater must be one of the most spectacular places to be afloat in a canoe or kayak, surrounded by stunning hills and mountains.

Being on the west side of the Lake District and harder to get to, Wastwater is quieter than the better known lakes, and there are no motor boats and yachts.

A couple of miles from the lake, but this is a lovely campsite very handily placed for Nether Wasdale's 2 excellent pubs.

Lots of spots to park and launch along the banks of the lake. This is one of the most convenient ones.
