Rivers
Canoeing and Kayaking on : River Teign

Paddle Point

Relatively straightforward put in on river left below bridge.

The farmer is tolerant of paddler's accessing the river, but asks that no vehicles are taken into the field even though he leaves the gate open, a very reasonable request. There is a small amount of parking along the road opposite, but it is fairly tight.

Parking by pub

Paddle Point

Used as get out for the section above. Get out river left above the weir.

There is limited roadside parking, ideally just for loading/unloading. There is a car park up the hill on the south side, about 3 mins walk away.

Paddle Point

A great paddle, mostly grade 2 through a steep sided woody valley, but with some tight sections that approach G3 in a more gorge-like section between the first weir and Fingle Bridge.

Paddle Point

Approx 10ft weir at the entrance to the steep sided valley section.
Inspect/portage river left.

Paddle Point

Whilst this could be run in a kayak, there is a handy chute on river left which takes you past it in a tight curve.

Paddle Point

Inspect or portage river right.

Runnable in kayaks, with the usual precautions and provisos, but a bit rocky.

Paddle Point

Diagonal weir across the river above the bridge. Can be run river right by kayaks.

You can get out close to bridge on river left without running the weir by keeping close to the left bank.
