A launch point just below Treforest weir.
Unload boats on forest road opposite gilbern cars, walk down the path beside gilbern motors and down to the fish ladder approx 50metres downstream the river wall has collapsed allowing easy access to the river.
Parking immediatly on the site can be hard but there is nearby parking in the university Pay and Display

A very narrow slot less than 2 metres wide drops the river through this rapid. It is recommended that you portage which is possible river left unless river level is high

A steep concrete faced weir approx 5 metres high with concrete anti scour plate, At high flows this is a dangerous weir but at summer flows can be run in a short boat in any part, but in a longer kayak or open it is best over the ski jump on the railway side of the weir

Note there is an easy portage if you choose not to run this weir, leave the river to the left approx 100M upstream of weir at set of steps. portage down cycle way to weir picnic area and walk down path to river below weir
