The highest put in for touring on the River Dee. Above here, you can canoe from Linn of Dee (grade 2-3), but this is not recommended for open canoes.

Awkward rocky drop with quite high volumes of water, on left hand bend above Dinnet Bridge. Grade 2-3. Inspect.
Open canoes can be easily swamped here.

Another rocky rapid which is grade II-III.

Access river left at bridge. This is the start of a popular section of the Dee, down to Banchory.

Approaching on the river, you need to be aware as the river is moving quickly after the rapids just above. Break out river left, care needed with rocks.

Grade 2-3 rocky drop followed by waves.

Inspect river left.

The Invercannie Rapids follow immediately after Cairnton, so be ready to get out to inspect at the rocks after the wave train.

Arguably the hardest rapids on the Dee, the grade III at Invercannie comprises a largish drop, large waves and the opportunity for swamping.

Inspect river right after landing on rocky banks.

Followed by a smaller rapid taken on the right.

Easy access from banks below bridge to track, but main road is up steep banks from there and has no easy parking.
